On behalf of the Board, I would like to announce that The Unconformity's founding Artistic Director, Travis Tiddy, has made the decision to conclude his role and seek new adventures when his contract expires on 30 June 2024.
This begins a significant period in the history of the organisation. For over 15 years, Travis has been at the centre of a unique creative force that has challenged locals and visitors to reconceptualise and reimagine the West Coast of Lutruwita/Tasmania.
This has involved curating seven outstanding festivals, receiving state and national tourism awards, and guiding the organisation through the challenges of a postponed 2020 festival and the last-minute cancellation of the 2021 festival.
Together, Travis and The Unconformity team have connected the region with artists and audiences locally, nationally and internationally – forging new artistic, community and funding relationships with peak bodies such as Creative Australia, Arts Tasmania, Events Tasmania and Regional Arts Australia, through understanding and celebrating the special qualities of the West Coast.
At the start of this journey, Travis was inspired to change the way people viewed Queenstown and the wider region. Fifteen years on, we can see that he has certainly succeeded. He will be difficult to replace however we look forward to recruiting a new Artistic Director who is able to take the organisation and the West Coast further on this journey.
The Unconformity team, including Board, staff, contractors, volunteers and partners have the talent, commitment and passion to continue The Unconformity story. Travis will remain in his role until the end of June to help prepare the organisation for the opportunities that await.
The Unconformity Board looks forward to working with Travis over the next few months, helping to prepare for the future of the organisation.
